Halcyon Days Gilbert Collection Rhinestone Enamel Box

HDPLGILCOL

£345.00

Inscribed inside the lid: 'Design inspired by a chrysoprase and diamond snuffbox made c.1755 in Berlin for King Frederick the Great. He was reputed to have owned more than three hundred boxes and carried them with him at all times, even into battle at Kunersdorf in 1759, where one saved his life by deflecting a bullet.'
Issued under licence from the Gilbert Collection, Somerset House, London, it is inspired by a famous 18th Century jewel encrusted box in the collection.
Jade green enamel and sparkling Swarovski crystals replace the chrysoprase and gems of the original box.
This is a spectacular, outstanding large oval enamel.
