C.F.A Voysey was an architect and furniture and textile designer who created wallpapers, fabrics and furnishings in the Arts and Crafts style.  In 1898 he designed a wallpaper featuring a cat sedately watching birds and mice inspired by a nursery rhyme from 1830 that celebrated the love for a pet kitty cat.  Rachel’s cream coloured cat hides amongst a canopy of green leaves and wine berries, while a small red heart is included as a sign of affection for her feline friend.
