Designed by Nicola Slaney
Numbered Edition
Inspired by a William De Morgan sea monster tile panel holding seahorses and waves in turquoise and blue, Nicola sought to create a more stylised and synchronised tile, his signature stylised leaves and flowers in his ‘Persian’ range of blues, greens, and turquoise colours around two seahorses, curled elegantly back to-back. De Morgan’s animals are often anthropomorphic and imbued with personality. And so, it is with Merhorse, a sea-stallion of the folklore of Iranian peoples, formerly known as Persian. This Moorcroft fantastical equine, it is said, may even be imbued with human speech, the ability to fly and other magical powers. Take heed.
