Moorcroft Trentham Gardens Vase

Located a stone’s throw from Moorcroft’s factory is Trentham Gardens. In Kerry’s design this Italianate garden is revealed through rhododendron bushes that line the miniature railway and which draw your eyes to the Romanesque marble fountain, statue of Persus (replica of Benevenuto Cellini’s 1550 statue in Florence), and large picturesque lake. In true Renaissance style, where balance and symmetry in design and planting are key to creating the feeling of ‘manmade order,’ here Kerry utilises all of the elements of classical design to beguile. The vista is abounding in woodland colour which quite literally cascades over the rolling hills tipped with the famous Grade II listed statue of the Duke of Sutherland. In the foreground orange and purple crocus frame the base of the vase, bringing both colour and beauty to Trentham Gardens in the springtime.
