Moorcroft Winter konig Vase

MC80/6W

£435.00

Wrens are amongst the most common birds in the UK. They owe their success to their ability to thrive in a great variety of habitats and to quickly dart in amongst foliage and hide themselves for protection. They are tiny and are just 9-10cm long and weigh about the same as a £1 coin. They have delightful, almost round bodies with short wings and a perky tail but it is their loud song, which every five seconds usually ends in a trill, which makes them so unusual. They sing right through winter, which is perhaps one of the reasons why they have become associated with festive folklore. In Holland they are called winterkonig – the winter king – and harsh winters can be very hard on them and this is when their numbers can plummet. Vicky’s plump wrens are busily enjoying a rich berry feast fit for any king this Christmastime
